Sri Chandi Annapurna

Sri Chandi Annapurna Seva Samithi

History

Sri Annapurna Sametha Kasi Visweswara, Mukkoti Devata Visesha Karuna Kataksha Siddhirastu.Lokaasamastaa Sukhinobhavantu.

The Dawn and new era of our relatioship and connectivity with Itikampadu.

I am, the narrator is Konduri Venkata Yoga Narasimha Prasad, DOB 09.01.1962, with parents Late Konduri Suryanarayana Garu and living mother Smt. Konduri Sita Devi, presently aged 96 years, staying with me.

Sandilyasa Gothram, Sapthaarisheyam, Kaasyapa, Aavatsaara, Naidhruva, Rebha, Raibha, Sandila and Sandilya.

Taken VRS from South Central Railway, as Chief Office Superintendent on 30.09.2019.

Presently staying in ITIKAMPADU.

Before starting, first of all, with folded hands, I do honestly request one and all to forgive me if I skip anything that is important but missed. Secondly, So far, Thousands of Children of MOTHER GODDESS ANNAPURNAMMA/DEVOTEES from this Village, District, State, Country and World have contributed their best for this temple, so mentioning all of them with names may not be possible so kindly forgive me for this.  Heart-full and Honest Namassumanjalulu / Kind Regards to all of them for making this temple to reach this present state. (Please visit Photo Gallery for this historical development).

Now, the narration of the mind blowing happenings start:

In January of 2002, I was staying  in Railway Quarter No. 675/2, now being dismantled in North Lallaguda, Secunderabad.  When I arrived at my quarter for lunch, A STRANGER AND AGED but ROBUST man around 80 years was sitting in the first room and my wife introduced him.

The first question he shot at me was “What is your native place?”

I replied Durgaagrahaaram, Vijayawada, for which immediately he said NO.

In fact, I got little irritated as a stranger is refuting about my native place. Then he started narrating that my ancestors had migrated to Durgaagrahaaram, Vijayawada, from a village, with Trishul, Madi Cheruvu (SACRED TANK), in coastal area. Then he went into details that, by name he is Krishna Swamy Iyer, Retired Vigilance Inspector, New Delhi, and also “Narasimha Upasaka” and on instructions of HIS SISTER, Parvathi, he has come to explain me about this.He continued that, in that village, in our forefathers house, MOTHER GODDESS ANNAPURNAMMA was roaming like a girl child and now that temple which our forefathers served, had reached collapsing state.

Immediately I questioned him, “Why are you restricting Mother to a village when she is present everywhere?

He replied with a mind blowing answer, you are feeding all MOTHERS and STARVING your OWN MOTHER.

He continued, immediately you go and see your Mother as she is very much annoyed for her kids not seen her and not taking care of her.

Immediately I called my brother Late Sri K.Vijaya Sarathy, who passed away on 24.9.2020, Durgaashtami of Adhika Aswayuja 2020.  He was also a Railway Employee, who took Voluntary Retirement from Railways as Sr.Section Section and settled in Bapatla.

He referred our “Vamsa Vruksha” maintained by my father and told me that, Yes, what he said was correct and our ancestors migrated to Vijayawada THREE GENERATIONS BACK,

from a VILLAGE by Name “ITIKAMPADU”, (the name which I used to hear from my father) in Ponnuru Mandal, Guntur Dist. Andhra Pradesh,

So, my Father and probably my Grand Father were also not aware of this village.

When I asked why this matter is coming to light during our generation, then, he said, this generation is privileged to SERVE HER AGAIN. He strongly recommended us to immediately to visit Mother at the earliest and went away.

All the discussion and details will be voluminous and supersede a fantasy novel, so I am restricting myself to bare minimum.

Out of curiosity, I made a phone call to paternal side lady and she revealed that she is from that ITIKAMPADU,  with parents (Dhara) and  also SURPRISINGLY, husband side also from the same village with Konduri, our surname (It is rare for a lady having both paternal and husband side same place and that too making my first confirmation call to that lady making my first confirmation call made after decades, went to her).  She revealed that Yes, there is a Annapurna and Kasi Visweswara Swamy temple and all the first girl child of that village is in general named as Annapurna.  She too confirmed that the temple is now in about to collapse stage.

Curiosity developed and as per the given guidelines and precautions, ALONGWITH FAMILY I WENT TO BAPATLA and by picking up brother’s family, SEARCHING THAT VILLAGE, reached ITIKAMPADU AFTER THREE GENERATIONS.

In North East of the village, found, the said once Madicheruvu

(The Sacred Tank) and Old temple in ready to collapse state.

The Lord Ganapati statue was in disturbed state (reportedly by miscreants in search of treasures)

but Lord Kasi Visveswara Swamy’s BANA LINGA and smiling GODDESS, Mother Annapurna were not disturbed so intact.

Local people started coming and were happy to see us.  A old person by name Sri Gullapally Narasayya Garu also came and confirmed that many lands were disposed by our ancestors and migrated.  He also told that the presently school land and nearby lands were of our ancestors.

Came to know that, since there is no proper local maintenance, the temple went to the department of Endowments.

Local elders revealed that this village was once Agraharam of Brahmins, with nearby located and demarcated two areas for others.

Presently only four local Brahmin families are there, Konduri, Dhara, Jonnalagadda, Valluri and Gullapalli.

The present (including once) natives of this village are

In Naidus – Talluri, Paalepu, Mekala, Kota, Surisetti, Pasupuleti, Panditi, Katakamchetti, Muttireddi, Kamisetti, Ikkurti, Vishnumolakala, Chilukula, Amirineni, Nunna, Maturaju, Aakisetti, Chintaa, Neeli, Nanduru, Sanku and some others

In Yadavas  – Bontagarla, Taadiboyina, Kukkala, Tupaakula, Minchaala and others

In Vysya – Chunduri, Muvvala and others

In Brahmins –  Konduri (Ours), Gullapalli, Jonnalagadda, Dhara, Kowtha, Acchutuni, Malladi, Vadlamudi, Valluri, Pannaala and others.

Most of the Brahmin families migrated to cities, disposing their lands to local Naidus and Yadavs who were too reportedly, migrated to this village long back.

I am proud and very happy to mention here that

  1. Shri Balijepalli Lakshmi Kantam Kavi Garu, the author of Harischandra Natakam/Drama was from this Village and
  2. Shri Kowtha Yagna Naarayana Sarma Garu, was the Engineer, who was popular for his role in laying the Second Ghat Road of Tirupati to Tirumala.
  3. The great sculptor, Shri Konkipudi Gurunadham Garu and his son Konkipudi Pullayya Garu, both were very famous in those days, who had sculptured the famous Nandi in Srisailam.

This village has given birth to many artists and great people.

Miracles happened after our first visit.

On our return to city, again the same Uapasaka again visited our house and said “MOTHER GODDESS IS VERY HAPPY BY SEEING HER CHILDREN”, i.e. our family.

As per his guidelines, decided to renovate this “OUR” temple, with absolute excitement and Pleasure but not with Pressure, which is nothing but an Herculean Task.

I hope all of you agree with me that, doing a small Puja / Vratam in our own house, requires extra efforts, imagine, renovating a old temple far away, is it easy?

Being an Engineer, my brother Late Shri Konduri Vijaya Sarathy garu had taken the initiative.

I can’t count, how many times he visited from his own house at Bapatla to this Temple, covering an approximate distance of around 20 Kms with cumbersome transport.

It is most appropriate to mention here that, myself, my brother and all of our family members felt that we ALL, including  ALL OF US AND THIS GENERATION are blessed and privileged to take part in this great Yagna, so, I personally feel that, there is no need to mention about any efforts that are put by us in this great and blessed Religious Mission that too ON HER CALL.

Initially, the scarce resources were pooled, started with my PF and one chit totalling to around Rupees 60,000.

After seeing our sincere efforts, the initially reluctant villagers had started giving support.

Many devotees not only from our inner family circle, relatives, friends, and natives of this village, but also from nearby villages and from all parts of the world have BY SOUL AND BODY, contributed for the renovation and development of this reportedly ancient temple, as SHE is sitting there and called and ordered us to start the work.

It is interesting to note that, staunch Muslim devotees of Mother Goddess Annapurnamma have also contributed for this temple (Today I have sent whatsapp message / screen shot of that donor).

The renovation process was firstly initiated with the Sri Chakra Yantra Puja.Relevant Homas,

Firstly with Punah Pratishta of Lord Vinayaka, followed by

(May not be in perfect chronological order)

With the contributions of all, these works till date have completed/nearing completion/under process with an approximate cost of MORE THAN Rupees ONE CRORE.

Apart from the above, I am very much delighted and it is really great to know that,

This tiny village has a New Kalyaanamantapam under construction which is nearing completion.  Already an amount of Rupees 50 + Lakhs, has been spent and it is really appreciable that this Kalyana Mantapam is also being proposed to be handed over/attached to  Temple Samiti.   To complete the pending works, an approximate amount of Rs. 20 Lakhs are needed, so the donors are requested to generously support for this so that the works are started and after completion, many marriages from not only this village but also from many nearby villages (at reasonable charges) can be performed here, that too, in the close vicinity of the MOTHER GODDESS, which is really a great charity and undoubtedly blessings ARE SHOWERED on the Donors.

I was really about to burst when I came to know about Shri Panditi Basavayya, the local villager, who has put his best in roaming many villages and places to collect the funds for this Kalyana Mandapam.

His dedication is EXEMPLARY.  He, not only physically worked hard to save labour costs (one astonishes when knows, he ALONE, used to unload the sand lorries during nights to save that labour costs) but also spent his hard earned money, uncountable for building that Kalyanamandapam. He fell ill and recovering now, still his aim is completion of that.

HATS OFF TO HIM.

There must be many “Before and Behind Curtain”, who could do their best and brought the temple and other services to this point.

ENDARO MAHAANUBHAABULU, ANDARIKI MANAHPURVAKA VANDANAMULU.

‘SMALL DROPS MAKE THE OCEAN”

One Rupee is equivalent to a Crore and a Crore to a Rupee.

Honest Danas/Donations made from Honest Earnings, with Samarpana Bhavana (Surrender) is more important to clear us from the Bad Karma (Karma Kshaya).

MOTHER GODDESS IS FEEDING THIS UNIVERSE WITH ABUNDANCE.

She is blessing us with huge returns, when we “Sow One Seed SHE is giving us 100s of Fruits/Grains.

Please imagine where we will be, if One Seed yields Only One Fruit or Grain.

Similarly small contributions made from honest hard earned money, BLESS US in unbelievable and ABUNDANCE and Punya.

Your contributions, SHOULD BE MADE

With a feeling of “I AM BLESSED AND PRIVILEGED TO SERVE MOTHER”

BUT  NOT

that “I AM DOING SOMETHING TO HER.”

This is very important.

PLEASE REMEMBER, FINALLY ONLY GOOD/BAD DEEDS COME WITH US.

NOTHING INCLUDING OUR PEOPLE AND ASSETS.

All the activities of the temple are under Endowments Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Hitherto, all the best possible Constructions/Services as mentioned above were initiated and being completed, by the dedicated devotees ONLY, with their generous contributions.

Many more Sevas/Services, in need of the growing devotees for all the DIETIES in the temple are being designed and started for the devotees AT A VERY MUCH AFFORDABLE NOMINAL CHARGES.

THE SPECIALITY OF THIS TEMPLE WILL BE BHAKTHI NOT ADAYAM.

(DEVOTION NOT INCOME).

Some of these are special Pujas and Abhishekas on Occasions, Festivals etc.

Special Pujas and Pariharas to Navagrahas,

Lord Prasannanjaneya,

All Dieties in Trilokadhamam and Gopuja etc.

These are designed/governed/monitored by SRI CHANDI ANNAPURNA SEVA SAMITI with its elected/nominated members who are very much dedicated.

With HER BLESSINGS, the “Speciality of this Temple” is, all work together without any interest for Self Recognition/Identity.  That is why so many developmental activities could be successfully completed and NEW ACTIVITIES ARE COMING UP.

Our family Purohit, Shri Chebiyyam Srinivasa Sarma garu, with personal interest, is the person who stood along with us for every activity and greatly supported us to reach to this point.

Shri Vedantam Rama Linga Sastry Garu, Ph.D in Kuchipudi, who was working with me in Railways and presently, Principal of the Siddhendra Kala Peetham, Kuchipudi was also with us and supported us in conducting very good programmes in this temple.

With her blessings, steps are very fast towards very rare Nandanavanam (The name of garden Of Lord Indra in Amaravathi).

This garden is being planned with rare

Navagraha Vanam with 9 Plants (Around Siva Pushkirini)

Raasi Vanam with 12 Plants (Around Siva Pushkirini) and

Nakshtravanam with 27 Plants (Within compound wall)

Also very many, rare medicinal and divine plants including Rudraksha, Various Flowers and Fruits are being planned. (This project is also under progress hence, Generous support from Donors is requested).

Mother has given me a visual of the UNIQUENESS of this temple in many aspects.

First of all, I am very much thankful to Shri Ramana Kumar Palakodeti, Web Designer, Hyderabad.

This website is his brain child. During my first discussion only, I could feel how dedicated is he. Also, he is a staunch believer of MOTHER GODDESS. He is the person, who made this possible, so you are going through this website. Further, he had assured me the best possible support forever.

Thanks a lot to him for his unexpected and voluntary support.

Next important is “The vision for a Mechanized Unique Kitchen” which can serve hot food / at least some snacks to EVEN UNEXPECTED, UNLIMITED VISITORS – ANYTIME.

It is appropriate to mention here that, even very great and big temples have Annadanam during only specific hours that too in many on writing the names in advance.

MOTHER PROMPTED me to go for this UNIQUE ANNADANAMAM in this tiny village with most sophisticated mechanized kitchen system.

Shri Ajay Garu, the Owner of M/s Meher Engineers, Attapur, Hyderabad, who is an expert in this field with his generous support taken personal interest in our temple and supported to the brim in arranging the equipment at affordable costs.

This project is also under progress, hence, the generous support of donors FOR CONTINUOUS ANNADANAM TO THE VISITORS, ROUND THE CLOCK is requested.

(He arranged Sophisticated Kitchen Support to many famous temples including Yadagirigutta, Dwaraka Tirumala, many Educational Institutions and Hospitals).

Coming to the Best Light and Sound system with Projector and Screen for Pravachanas and Divine shows,

Now this temple is already equipped with the Best Sound and Light System, Projector and 8×6 Screen.

In this regard, Shri Prasad Garu, owner of M/s R.K.Enterprises, Jeedimetla, Hyderabad, has also very much supported us and provided this temple with the best sound and lighting system at par with Cinema Theatres.

Shri Srirangam Srinivas Garu, the owner of M/s Prince Imitation Jewellery, Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, has supported me a lot in getting designed our beautiful SIVA KAVACHAM  and Imitation Jewellery.

He is also going to help the best possible, to get the old Brass Items repaired and polished in due course of time.

Let us spread the miracles and uniqueness of this temple Sri Annapurna Sametha Kasi Visweswara,Itikampadu to the world for a noble cause.
